The Desire2Learn Website is currently unavailable due to emergency site maintenance.

We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

As many of you are painfully aware, Desire2Learn is experiencing significant challenges in one of its cloud data centers that is dramatically impacting some students' online experience. This stems from the file virtualization hardware not interacting well with the storage environment. Please know that we are doing everything within our power to fix this problem. We understand the severe impact these service problems have on students, faculty members and administrators. We have devoted every available resource, including those of our partners, to achieve a resolution.

IN MEMORIAM:



On behalf of the Laurentian Online Programs Team and the Laurentian Community, we would like to honour one of our devoted students who passed away on February 15th, 2011.  


In remembrance of MCCOLLAM, Brian Charles January 18, 1958 - February 15, 2012 - CGA, employee of Edward Jones and long-time employee of ManuLife. Brian passed away suddenly at the age of 54. Loving husband to Karen. Beloved dad to Heather and Christopher. Son of Joy and the late Ivan McCollam. Cherished by his brother Bill and sister Wendy. He will be fondly remembered by his many family and friends.



*** Notification - Practice Examinations**


Please be advised that as of September 2012, practice exams will no longer be available in online MBA level courses.  Through diligent participation in group discussions, completion of course readings, assignments, and activities during the completion of a course, students are provided with the necessary skills, understanding, feedback and direction by their professor to prepare for the successful completion of their final examination.

**Important Notice -  Course  Access**


Please be advised that access to LU courses (content only) has been amended from previous sessions.  As of August 2012, access to LU courses (content only) will be available for viewing up to three weeks prior to the course start date. Students who enroll for a course less than three weeks prior to the course start date will have viewing access to the course material beginning on the Tuesday following the enrollment date.


On the Friday prior to the official course start date, students will gain access to the "Assignment/Group Work" section for their course (beginning at 12 pm Eastern / 9 am Pacific) where course interaction, official course schedule, and instructor access is available.

**Important Notice - GM2 re-development**


Please note that GM2 is currently being re-developed for the Fall 2012/13 (Session 1) offering.  That being said, students will not have access to the course content in D2L until the Friday before the course starts (Friday August 31).

** Important Notice – D2L Password locked out / expired**


If you are a student having issues trying to access D2L and/or GroupWise/Webmail and/or the Laurentian Library (password no longer recognized), please be aware that there is a security protocol in place at Laurentian University that requires account holders to periodically change their passwords. For students, this account reset period is eight months. Once a password expires, it will no longer work for GroupWise/Webmail, the Laurentian Library, or D2L (Desire2Learn).


To change your password, please visit the Self Service Password Reset (SSPR) page:

NOTE 1: If you reset your password to exactly the same one as previously used, you will be able to log in, but for only ten times. After the 10th login, your password will expire once again. To avoid this, be sure to reset your password to a new one (make sure your new password has at least a one-character difference from your previously-used passwords).


NOTE 2:  SSPR changes the password for three of your Laurentian accounts: GroupWise/Webmail, the Laurentian Library, and D2L (Desire2Learn). Webadvisor uses a different password.

** Important Notice – LU Online Technology Change **


Beginning in Session 1, 2011 all CGA students and members completing courses towards the Laurentian University (LU) Online MBA program will be required to access a new online learning environment – Desire2Learn (D2L). D2L will be hosted at LU and supported by LU staff.
