WebAdvisor & GroupWise

WebAdvisor is the LU Web interface that allows you to access your final LU business course grades and your LU transcript. This system accesses information contained in the administrative database used by Laurentian University. WebAdvisor consists of the forms and supporting infrastructure to extract and deliver information from this database to your desktop browser.

In order to use WebAdvisor, you require a login and password. This information is sent as an e-mail message to your GroupWise e-mail account – an account first created when you were accepted into the LU online H.B.Com program.

Password Information: The password for WebAdvisor is a randomly generated number and is not based on any personal information. This password is different from your GroupWise password. Your WebAdvisor password should be protected and never given to anyone else. If you cannot retrieve your password information, go to webadvisor.laurentian.ca, click on “Students” then click on “What's my password?”.

WebAdvisor Limitations

Official Documentation

Although the information held in WebAdvisor is official as it is linked to the the LU data system, students cannot print official documents from this system. Printouts will only include the final grade for a specific course, but will not include the LU logo or any other official identifier.

To request official documentation for reimbursement from your employer or other purposes, please forward an e-mail to registrar@laurentian.ca and request that your grade be sent to you by mail.

To request an official transcript, please forward an e-mail to transcripts@laurentian.ca . There is a fee for this service.

Enrolments

Although there is an enrolment feature in WebAdvisor, students in the online H.B.Com will not be able to enroll for courses through this medium. Enrolments must be completed through your provincial/territorial CGA affiliate or international Program Office.

GroupWise is the electronic system that Laurentian University uses for e-mail communication. Once you enroll into a LU business course, the Registrar will send you a letter informing you of your new GroupWise e-mail account. It is through this e-mail account that LU will forward your information to access WebAdvisor, the portal where your final grades and transcripts will be posted.

Username: Your GroupWise username consists of the first initial of your first name, then the first initial of your middle name, "_" (underscore) followed by your last name (ex. Robert David Parker's username would be rd_parker). If you have registered with no middle name, an "x" will replace the middle initial (ex: Robert Parker's username would be rx_parker).

Password: Your GroupWise password consists of your birth date and the three last digits of your LU student number. For example, if a student has the LU # 0171234 and a birth date of September 18, 1972, the password for GroupWise would be 091872234 (mmddyy###).

Please note that you are not required to use this e-mail address for your online courses. You should use the e-mail address that you access daily for purposes of your online courses.
